2nd Annual Latin Music Fest !!!

2nd Annual "Latin Music Fest 2004" ! September 17th& 18th at the Wisconsin State Fair Park grounds. Enter at Gate 5. Free parking in the lot adjacent to the Pettit Center. Admission: $6 *Children under 12 are "free".

One Drum - Milwaukee, Wisconsin- One Drum is an eclectic multi-cultural ensemble which performs songs, stories & dances rooted in the cultures of Africa, the Caribbean, Australia, the Middle East & the Americas. With an extensive collection of aboriginal, ancient, modern & one-of-a-kind percussive, string & wind instruments, One Drum weaves a tapestry that illustrates the common cultural origins of music.

7:30 - 8:30pm
Los Bandits - Kalamazoo, Michigan - Latino: Tex-Mex - Growing out of norteño music and conjunto bands, Tex-Mex also incorporated the popular music found around its birthplace in Latino communities in Texas. An infectious dance music, it combines the contemporary with the traditional and mixes up Mexican with American cultures just like the neighborhoods in which it thrives. Texas Country meets Mexico's Tejano! Los Bandits bring it all together with a contemporary flavor sure to "heat" up the de noche!

Headliner Sammy DeLeon y su Orchesta - Cleveland, Ohio- Serious Salsa!!! Nationally recognized as "El Leon del Timbal", Sammy DeLeon's long musical history has delivered him to legendary musicians such as the late "Tito Puente", who referred to Sammy DeLeon as the " hottest and most innovative young Timbalero today !". Sammy had the privilege of touring with El Gran Combo as well as sharing the stage with noted musicians such as Eddie Palmieri and Tito Rojas.

Vieau Elementary School - Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Series of small group performances celebrating Hispanic cultures through song and dance. Performed by elementary school children of Vieux School. Sure to make you smile!

1:30 - 2:30pm
Cache' - Milwaukee, Wisconsin - A long-time "Milwaukee Favorite!" Band-leader Cecil Negron ignites this group of widely known group of musicians, as they showcase a wide variety of Afro-Latin Carribean (Salsa & Merengue) and Latin American music influenced songs and rhythms ranging from traditional to contemporary.

3:00 - 4:00pm
Hermandad de Tomas - Chicago, Illinois - This group of well-seasoned musicians light up the stage with a variety of old and new Latin flavors . Join them as play original pieces in addition to spicing up your favorite rythms and renditions!

4:30 - 5:30pm
4 - K - Torce - Milwaukee, Wisconsin -Bachata! - Familiar faces will grace the stage with this age-old form of Latin rhythms that emerged from and belong to a long-standing Pan-Latin American tradition of guitar music. Groups comprised of two or more guitars or other related string instruments with percussionists and vocalists showcase this infectious form of music known as "Bachata" . 4 - K - Torce heats it up with their tantalizing magnetic sounds.

EMI Recording Artist - Joe Vasconcellos featuring Chilean musician Ismael Duran - Currently, the top-billing artist selling out to stadiums in Chile and his Cd "Vivo" went "Gold"! High energy danceable Chilean & Brazilian rhythms, Pop/Rock & Reggae flavors! Ismael "Bandolero" Duran, known for his widely loved world tours sets the stage with his unique blends of old and new!

Zyanya y su Orchesta - Chicago, Illinois - Salsa! - No need for caffeine to get you going with this group! The heart-pumping Salsa and Merengue's will get you out of your seat! This powerful, yet sensuous Diva has shared the stage with such greats like Arturo Sandoval, Frankie Negron, Grupo Niche, Frankie Vasquez y Los Soneros and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra.
